The 86U, Red Series Nylgut Concert Ukulele Set - Low G from Aquila features all-red Nylgut, a synthetic material that provides all the acoustic properties of traditional gut, but without the defects. The tuning of the string set is in the key of C with G, C, E, and A strings. The set offers great attack and remarkable stability of intonation, especially under moist conditions. The Red Series strings utilize a different approach by changing the weight of the material, but not the gauge, which results in a brighter sound with a better response throughout the fingerboard.

But increasing the strings diameter also increases internal dampening. That make the string less bright, less responsive and more muffled; the thicker the string, the duller the sound. The result is amazing the instrument sounds brighter, more powerful and more responsive through the entire range of the fret board. The strings also maintain their intonation better (because thicker strings need to be fretted harder, pulling them farther out of tune). Until now, this result was reached only with harps where the scale of the strings is continuously varied. Fluorocarbon is unfortunately a very stiff material. Density, is indeed the secret for the sound quality of a low string.
