Markbass is a design and manufacture of bass guitar amplifiers.
Markbass was founded in 2001 by Marco De Virgiliis in Italy. Marco was an electronics engineer working in telecommunications, and in the late 1980s he decided to start designing bass amps and cabinets with Sisinio Olivastri, now “Senior Engineer” for Markbass. They worked for several years to refine their designs, seeking to create products that could faithfully reproduce the sound of any instrument plugged into it. The brand was first called Parsek. In the late 1990s, Marco entered into a partnership with Ernie Ball and created a brand called Audiophile. During this period, Marco pioneered the use of neodymium speakers for bass cabinets, through a partnership with B&C speakers.
After a few years, Marco decided to found his own company, and Markbass was born.
